Manny Gil, The old me- Renewed & Restored

Hi, my name is Manny Gil and this is my story:

I have been married to my wife, Luisa, for 18 years and we have 3 kids. For the first 7 years of our marriage, I was a drug addict with an alcohol & a gambling problem. I really didn’t think I was doing anything wrong because I considered myself a “functional addict.” I mean, I worked hard every day, never missed a day of work, paid the bills, food was on the table and my kids had clothes on their backs. Our life appeared wonderful to the outsider, but behind the scene our life was a complete disaster!

At home I was a ticking time bomb, picking fights with my wife so I can go gamble, screaming at my kids for no reason and basically being the bully of my own home.

My wife and I really didn’t have a relationship. We hardly spoke to each other and to be honest it was beyond the point we thought we could rebound from rock bottom. We had already consulted our divorce lawyers. My addictions were ruining not only my life but my wife and children. I didn’t care about how my actions affected others including my family. My family and everything I had worked so hard for was slipping out of my hands. I didn’t know who to turn to because I had resolved my situation was hopeless.

We all have dates in our memory bank that are special, dates like the birthdays of our children, our anniversary or if you are like me, the last time the Dodgers won the World Series, lol. But seriously, we all have moments in our lives, including the dates that can change our present and future forever.

For me, that was January 25, 2005. You see, when your wife kicks you out of the house and tells you NOT to come back; some may see it as the worse day of your life, I chose to see it as the best day of my life! That was the day I needed to make a decision, to keep hiding or seek help. I chose to seek help from Jesus Christ! That was the day my life changed forever and yours could too! I invited the Lord Jesus into my heart and into my home, marriage, place of work etc. All this time I had a religion but not a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Since allowing Jesus into my life, He has transformed my heart. I mean He has literally taken a heart of stone, a tough heart and has softened it. He made it into a heart that feels, care and truly see people with God’s eyes. Our marriage has been restored, healed and truly growing on a daily basis. We serve Him as a family knowing that there are lots of families living in similar circumstances and need the Lord.

I pray when you read my story it can help you know there is hope in Jesus Christ! He is still in the miracle business, just ask my wife and kids!!!

I also pray that the day you read my story and need a miracle, you invite Him into your heart and mark this day on your calendar as: “The day your life changed forever”

God Bless, Manny Gil
